Named after the third album by American quasi-hair metal act Extreme, Porno Graffitti were started by Haruichi Shindo in Innoshima, Japan. Rounding out the lineup were Akihito Okano and Masami Shiratama. Their first single, "Apollo," was released in 1999, and the band went on to high-selling releases afterwards. But it was in making music for anime series that Porno Graffitti made their name more well-known. Their song "Melissa" was the theme song for Full Metal Alchemist, and their "Hitori No Yoru" was used for the series GTO. They have also had their music featured in a Nintendo video game.
